Evaluation of Radioactivity in Soil Sample from Al-Hadbaa Cement Plant in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq

نویسندگان

چکیده

The fundamental goal of this study is to measure the level radioactivity in soil area around Al-Hadbaa cement plant, also evaluate radiological hazard radionuclide, gamma-spectroscopy with an HPGe detector crystal diameter 70.6 mm and length 70 has been used estimate specific activity natural radionuclides 226Ra, 232Th, 40K, artificial 137Cs fifteen samples collected. results show that average concentration was 11.17 ± 1.69, 13.38 0.72, 158.36 5.35 Bq/kg, 1.52 0.19 respectively. these discovered be lower than global which 33 Bq/kg for 30 400 40K. Radiological indices are determined according under study. outcome index within globally recognized limit proposed by UNSCEAR 1000 μSv/y annual effective dose 290 × 10-6 cancer risk, so it possible conclude there no hazards as a result radiation exposure workers working plant well organisms living region.

Radiological Risk due to Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials in the Soil of Al-Samawah Desert, Al-Muthanna Governorate, Iraq

Introduction: The risk of radioactivity addresses human life directly. The natural rock radioactivity is mainly due to 232Th, 238U), and 40K series. Activities involving blasting, crushing, and processing of rocks into numerous pieces lead to release of radionuclides into the atmosphere in the form of dust particles. M...

Natural radioactivity assessment in soil samples from Kirkuk city of Iraq using HPGe detector

Background: Inspection of the level of radioactivity from radionuclides in soil is important for the assessment of the exposure to natural radiation. Materials and Methods: Ten samples from soil were collected from different sites of Kirkuk-IRAQ and the level of natural radioactivity was measured using gamma-ray spectrometry based on a high purity germanium (HPGe) detector. Results: It was foun...
